Roberta J. Chorlton Young Musicians Gift Fund

Roberta J. Chorlton (1945 – 2020), played violin both modern and baroque, as well as various medieval stringed instruments. She performed widely in ensembles and at local musical events as well as teaching both in the Gilbert Public School system and privately, whether independently or with music academies.
In Roberta’s memory and in the spirit of her desire to see young violin students given opportunities that match their merit, despite any challenges, this Gift Fund is designed to help students receive lessons without financial hardship.
Young Sounds is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year. Private instructors, school music teachers, and orchestra conductors may submit student information for consideration. Two scholarships in the amount of $25/lesson for 9 months will be awarded.
For an application, email musicians@promusicaz.org. The recipients will be chosen by David Chorlton and a panel of local string teachers. To make a donation to the Gift Fund, go to the Support Young Sounds page at youngsounds.org.
